Large vintage French decorative bowl in white glazed earthenware, formed as a ceramic pedestal tureen with lid from the mid 20th century. This Mid Century Modern bowl features a substantial rounded body framed by two applied loop handles, a broad flared foot, and a fitted domed cover with a simple rounded finial. The softly mottled white glaze reveals warm terracotta in places, creating a layered, timeworn surface across the sculptural form.
The covered vessel follows the traditional French soup tureen or soupière form, combining a deep bowl, paired handles, pedestal base, and high domed lid. Sourced in Provence, the monochrome pottery places emphasis on silhouette, scale, and surface rather than painted decoration, giving the historic serving form a strong contemporary decorative presence.
Display this large pedestal bowl as a table centerpiece, console object, sideboard accent, or sculptural lidded vessel on open shelving. It may also be arranged with dried branches or preserved botanicals. Its neutral white finish and aged ceramic texture complement French country decor, coastal decor, farmhouse decor, Mediterranean decor, and wabi sabi decor, as well as collections of antique and vintage pottery.
