Large antique French white confit pot from Martres Tolosane is an unusually substantial early 20th century faience jar with an opaque ivory glaze and two loop handles. The surface retains subtle throwing lines, while patina along the rim and handles reflects generations of use. Its extra large scale, less commonly encountered than the smaller household pots, combines with its restrained monochrome glaze and balanced form to create exceptional sculptural presence.

Martres Tolosane has been a center of French faience production since the 18th century, drawing on nearby clay deposits and long-established glazing traditions. Pots of this form were traditionally used in southwest French kitchens to store and preserve food before the adoption of modern containers.

Use this pottery jar as a kitchen utensil holder, decorative vase for dried branches, covered storage vessel, console accent or table centerpiece. Its white glaze works particularly well with French country decor, Mediterranean decor, farmhouse decor, and vintage kitchen decor.
