Antique Spanish majolica wall plate dating to the early 20th century, hand crafted in Talavera de la Reina from glazed earthenware. Formed as a shallow charger, it features a stylized cobalt blue bird standing over a plume-like branch, surrounded by sweeping foliate arcs, latticed panels, dotted bands, and fine manganese brown linework. It works equally well as a serving bowl, as a decorative ceramic wall art piece with two suspension holes on the back or an statement piece on a table top. Produced in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo, this Spanish faience reflects the town’s centuries-old tradition of tin glazed pottery. The central bird, concentric organization, and alternating botanical and geometric motifs belong to the decorative vocabulary maintained by Talavera workshops during the early 20th century. Fine manganese strokes define the bird and border while preserving the immediacy of the cobalt hand painting.
