Rare and well-preserved French gargolette pot with intact matching lid, dating from the 19th Century. A beautiful example of traditional French farmhouse pottery. Originating from Southwest France or Provence, this ochre-glazed terracotta vessel was historically used for storing and pouring water. Its large scale, intact spout, and bold glaze make it a standout example of French rustic pottery.

Handcrafted from red terracotta clay, the pot features a rich golden ocher glaze on the upper half, while the lower section remains unglazed, a signature characteristic of French country pottery. Unlike standard confit pots, this unique piece has a large arched carrying handle, a side handle for stability, a pouring spout for controlled serving.

With its beautiful aged patina, natural wear, and authentic kiln marks, this gargolette is a striking piece of French rural heritage. This pot can be styled in a Mediterranean or eclectic interiors or used for sculptural display, French Country Decor, Rustic Home Decor, Farmhouse Decor, Cottage Decor or as Wabi sabi accent. This timeworn beauty embodies the charm of provincial France, bringing a warm touch of history into modern living spaces.
