Rare and well preserved antique French confit pot with lid, crafted in blue glazed ceramic in Martres Tolosane, southwest France. This early 20th century preserving jar features a generously rounded body, two compact loop handles, a rolled rim and its matching domed cover with rounded finial. Far rarer than the more commonly encountered white examples, its unusually clear blue color and complete two piece form create greater sculptural presence, making it a striking centerpiece.

Martres Tolosane has been a center of French faience production since the 18th century, drawing on nearby clay deposits and long-established glazing traditions. Pots of this form were traditionally used in southwest French kitchens to store and preserve food before the adoption of modern containers. Its survival with intact lid makes it a particularly desirable piece for collectors and decorators.

Use this lidded pottery jar as a kitchen utensil holder, decorative vase for dried branches, covered storage vessel, console accent or table centerpiece. Its saturated blue glaze works particularly well with French country decor, Mediterranean decor, farmhouse decor, wabi sabi decor and collected vintage kitchen decor, while the fitted lid allows it to remain a self-contained sculptural object.
