Antique French tailors mannequin legs are scarce; this listing is for one rare Napoleon III period example, carved from solid wood circa 1870–1890 with a black painted finish. The heavy form has a tapered calf, elongated pointed boot and shaped heel, while its original pale wooden mounting dowel and transverse metal pin remain above. Its life-size sculptural single-leg silhouette, substantial construction and richly distressed black surface preserve the unmistakable presence of a nineteenth-century French trade figure.

Originally created as the detachable lower section of a full-figure tailor’s mannequin, the leg was designed to connect through the round dowel and pin at the top. French dressmakers and commercial ateliers used such figures to present garments with realistic proportions. Its elongated boot, deep black finish and sculptural theatricality belong to the Napoleon III decorative tradition that continued into late nineteenth-century mannequin production.
