Vintage Spanish blue glass demijohn in hand blown glass, embossed VIRESA at the neck and dating to the early 20th century. This large wine carboy bottle has a rounded balloon form, tall neck, and blue green glass with visible bubbles, waviness, and thickness variation typical of hand blown glass. Its scale and sculptural silhouette make it a strong statement vessel for branches or a standalone decorative bottle in French country decor, rustic home decor, and Mediterranean decor.
VIRESA (Vidrierías Reunidas S.A.), founded in Valencia in the mid-1900s, became known for durable and distinctive glassware. This piece reflects Mediterranean craftsmanship, combining utility with decoration in a form associated with Spanish modernism. The soft blue tone likely comes from natural minerals present in the sand used by regional glassworks.
Styled as a floor vase, branch vase, or decorative bottle on a sideboard or console, this demijohn pairs well with wicker, terracotta, linen, and vintage pottery. It works beautifully in wabi sabi decor, organic modern decor, and farmhouse decor, whether left empty as a sculptural object or filled with branches, grasses, or seasonal foliage.
